Lying press and plough. My father
and I constructed this piece based, loosely, on plans shown in Manly Banister's
book The Craft of Bookbinding. Works as well as any professional
press I've
used and construction cost came in somewhere
around $50.00
(not including time and labor) |

A circa 1895 Reliance guillotine made in
Chicago. |
A standing press my father and I made
out of an old barrel press. Platen size, 25 x 22 inches with a throat of
32 inches. I use a cut off floor jack to take up space to the bed when
there are only a few books being pressed. |
